After-sauna beer. Not really a thirst quencher but rather a slow sipper.
The appearance is ugly and, hence, interesting: sludgy, dark brown, maybe with a faint purple reflection. A suppressed beige lacing is formed on the surface and soon it melts wellnigh completely away.
A really unique scent: plum, soy sauce, cacao nibs, some kind of fortified fruit wine as well as cinnamon. A cocktail that I didn't anticipate of a Barley Wine but that certainly makes my eyebrows rise. In a positive sense.
Let me sip. Mmmm. Absolutely unpredictable. But also intriguing. The components include soy (but not necessarily soy sauce anymore), salt, dark plum, cacao nibs, chocolate and cinnamon. What the heck is that medley supposed to be? I have probably never encountered such a mix before although this doesn't count as the weirdest combination of all times. Odd enough anyway.
The body is definitely full. The end continues on the same path as the actual taste. This makes me smile!
The mouthfeel is full, sticky, deep, rich, intense, round, soft and smooth. This beer is, furthermore, distinctly something that I haven't used many times before: UMAMI. Yes, this is umami! Desserty if you are adventurous. Strange if you are conservative. Innovative anyway. Unique. And fascinating. 🖤🖤
