Bachus: Grape Ale Aged in Amphora, Portugal
4.2
A Grape Ale is always an interesting beer. Almost never available in Finland. This is a Portuguese edition, aged in amphora = clay pot. This is the first and only beer that could have actually deserved a glass. However, in the absence of a glass, I'm resorting to a manual assessment as even this beauty is sipped straight from the bottle The nose picks red wine, red grape, purple plum, wheat malt and wild yeast. The taste serves copious dry red wine, purple grape, dark plum, apple, wheat malt and intensive wild yeast. Very intriguing! 💜💜 Like a Wild Ale. The mouthfeel is light-medium, absolutely vinous, barrel aged, deep and intense. It's tart, puckering, funky and somewhat acidic. There's certainly potential for aging.
