Straight Jacket (2025)
15.0% Barley Wine
The soul of Barleywine channeled through vivifying bourbon barrels and blended with an alchemist's touch. Summon notes of caramel, stone fruit, brown sugar, and vanilla with each generous swirl.

Nightcap. Deep dark brown beer with an intensive ruby reflection. The color is called oxblood. The carbonation is limited but not nonexistent. A fairly dauntless sand-hued foam climbs three fingers high and dwindles gradually to a moderate lace ring. The nose enjoys generous date, a good load of raisin and dried plum. Smaller amendments of cacao nibs, vanilla and cane sugar play in the background. Vanilla must originate from the Bourbon barrel, it's mellow and velvety. Promising at this stage. The taste lifts my tastebuds to heaven! Powerful date merges with sweet crunchy fig and vanilla-full Bourbon. What a delicacy! Cacao nibs, cane sugar, caramel biscuit and graham crackers constitute the backing vocals of the lead artists. Alcohol is absent despite the huge ABV. A bit of dried plum and faint raisin are spectators to the show. And what kind of a show!? Awesome, if I put it with one word. The body is full. The tail is long. Sweet dried fruits, fresh fig and intensive Bourbon keep decorating the gustatory scenery beautifully. The mouthfeel is full, velvety, intense, deep and barrel aged. It's also thick, viscous, sticky and warming. Complexity is reasonable at best. A really seductive piece, though not perfect, and I wouldn't accept anything less with these parameters.
