October 2016 vintage, 14.6% abv Chocolate, roasted malts and dark fruits (raisins, plums) in the aroma. Has a sweetness to the aroma as well. Taste has the dark fruits right up front. Following this, I'm getting chocolate, a pretty noticeable booziness and the roasted malts towards the end of the mid-palate, lingering into the finish. I'm not exactly sure what style of stout this is, but I'd put my money on Russian imperial stout. That sweetness I got in the aroma is also present in the taste, and after looking at the label, it's probably the turbinado sugar added. Aftertaste is pretty bitter from the malts with the sugar helping to balance that. This is tasty. I don't believe this is brewed anymore. I acquired this from a guy selling down his cellared beers and I'm glad I did. I don't know how it was fresh, but it's held up well over time. I'm sure this is a $13 bottle in the store that I got from him at $6, so I definitely can't complain. I'm gonna sip on this for a while and enjoy it. High 4.25/5
