The pour looks opaque black. Decent carbonation. A fawn fluffy head exceeds one finger and dissolves soon to a moldy lacing and generous ring on the surface. The nose observes truly modest aromas: roasted malt, rye bread, faint licorice powder. Identifiable, yes, but surprisingly oppressed. The sip offers distinctly more ample flavors: sweet-leaning licorice, lactose, roasted malt, faint blackcurrant and a suggestion of vanilla. Nice, fairly standard. The body is medium-full to full. Meets the ABV criterion. The finish pushes forward powerful sweet licorice, roasted nuances and lactose. The mouthfeel is full, lip-glueing, even sticky and candy-like. Reasonably balanced although slightly sappy, too.
