Allen's entry into our SOTS beer contest. Strong contestant since it's from a respected brewery, Jester King. This brewery is on my bucket list. Doom Forge release is a yearly event full of an entire day of celebrations. This is the 2025 edition and much stronger than previous years at 12.0%. I expected a blinding aroma but it is a bit mild. A soft breeze of breakfast coffee and done. OK. Not much there. Now for a sip. Ohhhhh that's good. Malt, lots of sweet coffee, background of chocolate, toasted, now I'm finding caramel and it's turning dry. That's just the first sip. Next, an alcohol without any barrel, charred molasses, latent mild hop bitter notes, and espresso. It travels so smooth and effortlessly from first to last, gently letting each flavor develop and having its moment, always retaining it's coffee base. Even as I enjoy what I thought was the last, a dark fruit appears in a late farewell. One of the best coffee stouts ever. That's Ryan knowing his wife's (my daughter) entry is in trouble.
