The scent is dry and burned: tobacco, ash and coffee. I wonder what makes this a "cookie monster". I hope the taste delivers flavors that one could expect of a Pastry Stout. This time I'm getting roasted and crushed coffee beans, raw cacao powder, a pinch of tobacco and rye porridge. Relatively scorched. I also spot lactose but I still don't find cookie here. Or maybe the oven has burned the cookie? The body clocks between medium and medium-full. The ABV is, nevertheless, as high as 9 %. Ends like it starts. Lactose is absent in the aftertaste. Feels medium-full, roasty, charred, dry, effervescent and distantly lip-glueing. Not bad if you don't anticipate anything. However, I do. Pastry Stout invites me to expect sweet stuff. I get a little. "Cookie Monster" makes me expect cookie. Do I have cookie? Not a crumb. Not even the body meets the expectations. Doesn't really justify a good rating.
