This had a nice text book pour, lots of lucious black with chocolate coloured, bubbly foam which quickly settled to the dark brown/black body with two fingers of heavy, chocolate coloured foam which retained very well.
Scent is malt all the way, spent coffee, dark chocolate/cocoa, with some sweet biscuit and a little toffee at the end. The feeling in the mouth is medium bodied with light carbonation and moderate foaminess to wrap it all up.
Taste is a little more complex, it's like a cross of a brown ale and a porter. A light nutty taste upfront, before lingering into the spent coffee. The chocolate and toffee fight over the spotlight before settling down to a mild cinder aftertaste.
Nice porter but nothing new.
