Their beers are great and varied, so why do they have to keep using the same label and barcode!?! Becoming a running joke at this stage! Nonetheless, it had a simple pour, expectant black body with some chocolate foam during the pour which disappeared far too quickly, leaving light carbonation in it's place. Scent starts with lots of chocolate, but black chocolate specifically, very dark and pleasantly bitter. Light espresso starts to surface but is immediately dragged back down and suppressed by the chocolate. In the mouth it feels medium bodied with soft carbonation that turns mildly oily and leaves a coating in the mouth. Taste is sweet and nutty upfront. Chocolate rolls in after but is much less intense with the nutty profile easing the bitterness. The espresso turns dry and remains only in the aftertaste. This is very 'chocolatey' but not in the way one would expect. I have found chocolate stouts to usually be sweet and lucious, but this is so dark and bitter, it was like a whole new experience. There isn't much else going on here, but I'm unsure if this is actually a bad thing. Definitely worth a turn if one sees it on offer.
