Advent Calendar Beer #️⃣1️⃣4️⃣. Now I have an impenetrable, shiny bright black beer with mediocre carbonation in my glass. A chocolatey crown adorns the top at half a finger's level and dwindles soon to the sides. A coin-sized haze floats in the center. The fragrance offers seductive aromas: molten dark chocolate, cacao nibs, vanilla, dried nectarine, fig and date. A nutty note echoes throughout the olfactory universe. The taste is seductive like a siren song. I can enjoy a list of deep, sweet and copious flavors, such as dark chocolate ganache, cacao nibs, apricot jam, mushy nectarine, Sherry, vanilla, brown sugar and a hint of date. Resembles Sachertorte. Barrel notes aren't absent either. A sweet-suggesting nutty injection, pretty much like roasted almond with a brown sugar coating, joins the gang. The body is full although not enormous. The end keeps many of those earlier flavors alive, especially chocolate, cacao and apricot jam. The Sherry is a beautiful barrel content that brings in multiple attractive nuances to the cocktail. The mouthfeel is full, intense, deep, rich, layered and a tad complex. It's a bit sticky, desserty, barrel aged and warming. Intriguing and crushable. This is an enjoyable, yet balanced piece.
