Found this Nashville Tennessee beer and sent it to Texas for a Duo. Seems like a very unique Schwarzboch for us to try. Some really unique barrel aging.
Pours to a really dark color with a medium tan head. Sweet malt aroma, but nothing else. A soft texture that quickly turns dry for the rest of the beer. Begins with a sweet malt, very charred and not much else. We both tried but found no barrel aging characteristics. Can't find the wine and can't find any orange. Did they taste this beer before slapping on a label? Did they really put it in "whiskey barrels previously holding Madeira wine and orange Curacao"? Maybe, for 10 minutes. Don't get me wrong, I like this beer and will gladly sit back and drink several of these schwartzboch beers. It's a pretty good schwartzboch. But they totally mislabel and misrepresent what they are selling. I'm going to give it a 2.8 for misrepresentation but if they had just called it a schwartzboch, I'd probably have given it a 4.1.
