Melkoista nestemäistä katajaa. Hyvää silti.

Matte, medium-black beer. Yes. Almost like not. Like very dark brown. But I guess it's black though. The carbonation is limited albeit not chained. Nevertheless, the foam that caps the top wears beige and reaches a maximum of half a finger. Whatever traces of the froth there might be, they are soon gone.
Juniper is powerful in the air. When merged with burned malt, the result is awkward, like a marriage of mold and tiger balsam. I try to think of them as juniper and burned malt. Soot and ash can be added to the list, too. Weird, for sure!
The taste doesn't give mercy. Not a bit. Juniper, big time, on the tastebuds. And burned malt. Charred wood, ash, soot, a whisper of rowanberry. Perhaps even a touch of licorice root. None of the components is particularly friendly. But I'll manage.
Next, the body. Light. More or less. The tail waves smoothly and easily. The sharpest corners are much rounder now. This is pleasant!
The way this ends makes me smile. Light, roasty, woody, spiced, smooth. Unique. Starts rough but settles down, probably in concert with the temperature.

On kyllä katajainen. Ja stoutti. Just sitä, mitä lupaa.
