Alright, one beer for the night after another long and hot deck building day. This is an old acquaintance of mine. Sort of. I've had several versions of this, like Vats and vintages, plus the so-called base version. This one is, again, the base version but a newer vintage. A cute little bottle. 250 ml. Suits perfectly for the moment. Basically lucid is this beer. And gold to pale amber. The carbonation is spritzy and short-lived. A fizzy head forms on the head up to two fingers' measure and retreats quickly to silence. A familiar scent. But a bit restrained...? White wine, apple, wild yeast nuances, horse stable, leather. That's the cocktail of tonight. Yes, the package is familiar from the past but the components don't really thrill me now. Why? I've tasted dozens of Lambics, and I'm always expecting something spectacular. I'm missing that spectacular element now. Alright, let's cut the philosophical crap and continue with the beer. (*Sipping...*) Well, all good. But. Still not sensational. The components include dry white wine, apple peel, wheat malt, wild yeast notes, raw green gooseberry, leather. Predictable. Multidimensional. The body is light to light-medium. The beer finishes pretty much like it starts. A fairly short aftertaste though. The feeling on the tongue is tart, puckering, vinous, funky, Belgiany. Not particularly layered but offers a relatively rich supply anyway. The earlier base version that I referred to was a 2014–2015 vintage, tasted in 2017. I gave it 4.0 then. My universe has expanded dramatically ever since. This is still palatable but doesn't impress me too much. It's alright.
