World Wide Stout (2023) 15.5%, Dogfish Head Brewery, United States

World Wide Stout (2023)
15.5% Imperial Stout
Yes, this is the beer you've heard so much about! Brewed with a ridiculous amount of barley, World Wide Stout is dark, roasty and complex. This Ageable Ale clocks in at 15-20% ABV and has a depth more in line with a fine port than with a can of cheap, mass-marketed beer. World Wide debuted in the winter of 1999, and the staying power of this brew is undeniable. Like Fort and 120 Minute IPA, World Wide Stout only gets better with age . After some time in your beer cellar, the heat of the booze fades into the background and the port notes and roastiness take over. World Wide goes great with (or as!) dessert. Share one with someone you love.

🖤 Now here's a brew that every craft fellow should have a go with. This one clocks at somewhere around 15 to 20% and it's not barreld aged. But it's made quite constantly. I kinda know what to except, since I've had this once before (that earlier piece was 6-year old). And it was almost like a religious experience to one that doesn't believe in many things in this world. My expectations towards this piece are high up there, nothing less. Nothing less. Let's see this vintage through… 🖤 BEER: World Wide Stout (2023) BREWERY: Dogfish Head Craft Brewery BEER STYLE: Imperial Stout COUNTRY: USA ABV.: 15.5% COLOUR (EBC): Very Dark Brown (72.0) BITTERS (EBU/IBU): 70.0 AROMA: Mild, but dark with being. Interesting. It carries some deep dark grapey feel to it. HEAD: Almost nonexistent. GREY’S VIEW Settling somewhere between 15.5% - 20.0% this Imperial Stout has been around since 1999. Okay. The first sip. It's quick and rushy as the vintage tells me too. Taste carries copious amounts of malts along with it. Maltiness in this one tends to turn into a red berried way with some dryeness yet soothingly natural way. Allready at this point, I think this one will grow into a better brew with time. It still has some raw elements to it, though, they're well carried. But it is bold and brave. In every corner. Giving so much of flavour from malts and their being. The body in this one is quite vinous, drying and delightfully red berried. It has that incredible purity to it along with bravery. OTHER NOTES: Oomph. With all. With this age, I recommend this one only to a true red wine enthuastics or all arounders like myself. It'll be a lot deeper with more years behind it. BOTTLED 10/2023 TASTED 7/2024
