Brewed at Samuel Smith's small, traditional British brewery with well water, best barley malt, roasted barley, yeast and hops to create a rich flavorful ale; deep chocolate on color with a roasted barley nose and flavor that is a complexity of malt, hops, and yeast. Fermented in 'stone Yorkshire squares'. This distinctive type of ale was originally shipped to Imperial Russia; it was a favourite of Russian nobility.

Beautiful reddish dark color. Very nice head foam with a peculiar dark roasted color. It almost looks like a coffee foam (cappuccino)! Perfect to drink at work without anyone knowingđ
The smell has roasted notes, we have a bit of coffee and burnt bread. Very nice! .9
The attack is quite gentle and offers burnt cereal notes but also dried stonefruit (prune) notes. I like that! .9
Then the dried stonefruit notes develop even further. We also have notes of spices like cinnamon? Of course we still have this nice roasted cereal and bread perspective. 1
The aftertaste has roasted notes with coffee and nice notes of grilled bread. We also have dried stonefruit notes with a gentle sweetness. .9
Overall this is an EXCELLENT beer! All the promises are kept, the beer is also beautiful to look at. Cherry on the cake the 7% are adding a nice strength without tasting the alcohol. Iâm French so thatâs hard for me to say butâŠgood job English âpeopleâ! đŽó §ó ąó „ó źó §ó ż 1
