Bishop’s Barrel No. 23 is a Rye Doppelbock Aged in Rye Whiskey Barrels. It’s lightly spicy, with upfront notes of toffee, brown sugar and cherry, balanced by the slight rye character of the beer and the rye whiskey character from the WhistlePig barrels it was aged in. With a moderate body and warming booze character, BB23 will keep you wanting another sip.

My daughter and Ryan wanted to have something special today for our Duo. It's my 43rd wedding anniversary and she hasn't gotten rid of me yet. We've been saving this Bishop's Barrel #23, bottled December 2019.
Sweet aroma of sweet malt, fig and rye whiskey. As soon as this beer enters your mouth it gives you a smooth gentle warming sensation. Doesn't come at you hard and heavy, it just kind of lays back like an old friend. First flavor is raisin, smooth malt and sweet rye whiskey. Perfectly blended to give you a relaxing and smooth experience. It immediately brings a very modest dryness that is consistent from first to last. As the finish arrives the alcohol gently begins to appear as it warms the throat and the raisin turns to a more ripe fig.
This isn't a beer that comes out of the gate screaming I'm a five. It's the most modest and easy going and laid back five l have ever experienced. Oh, and the settlement at the bottom of the glass at the last, it look like confetti. So I ate it.
