Went digging in the crates for this one… bottled 2 years ago, bought 21 months ago whilst on a fantastic weekend exploring the beery delights of Bath with my wingman Jamie 👍 Never tried it fresh and in fact have never come across a strong beer by Electric Bear Brewing before, not sure if this is a one off or an annual releases… It’s everything you want in a breakfast stout. Silky oats, roasty barley, intense fruity coffee, hints of berries and a delicate sweetness in the background. It’s got big beer flavour complexity, yet remains easy drinking. Boozy but not overly so. I know the BJCP doesn’t have a breakfast stout style category but I do think they’re something on their own, whether normal or imperial strength. As soon as you taste one you know it’s a breakfast stout and I do think that should be recognised especially with the amount of adjunct laden stouts out there these days
