First of all, this beer lost 3% ABV since someone added it to Pint Please. Last weekend I was helping someone fixing up their new home when I passed this brewery getting some supplies at the hardware store. Stadshaven Brouwerij (City Harbour Brewery) is in a part of the Rotterdam harbour that is being redeveloped. The area, and specifically the old warehouse they are in, used to be a fruit terminal, before fruit was shipped in reefers. Most of their beers are therefore flavoured with fruits. This dark winter ale is spiced with cinnamon, ginger and coriander besides orange. Somehow though it smells and tastes like licorice and a hint of cough syrup. Not as bad as it sounds, but not good either.

Jaaaha, 11,5% läcker 🤪

Comme une Dark Ale des Pays-Bas. Fines bulles, couleur Coca. C'est lourd, gras, sirupeux. Beaucoup de sucre. Arômes de réglisse et d'épices, genre cannelle, gingembre et coriandre. Mais le trop de sucre emporte tout, sans oublier les 11,5° qui ne passent pas inaperçus. Une bière que tu n'en prends pas deux...
