One of the last beers I sent to Texas for Duo purposes. This one from Valdosta Georgia. Georgia Beer Company, peanuts of course.
Nice, full, tan head. Pretty thick and it's lasting. Deep brown, opaque color. Dark, even for a porter. Sweet peanut butter aroma with just a little malt in the background. Also has traces of chocolate. The deep brown color tricks you into thinking this will be very soft and heavy, but it's not. Medium texture at best and crisp. Like a porter. Flavor begins with a strong Porter malt with background notes of peanuts and cocoa. Not peanut butter, roasted peanuts and dry cocoa. Sprinkle in a dash of brown sugar for sweetness. Finish also ends dry as the flavor trails off into a light roasted bitterness.
If you enjoy porters that are not over indulged with extra flavors, then you'll love this. This is a good classic Porter with a subtle amount of real peanuts and cocoa proudly in the background. I know they're real peanuts because the can has a warning label for those that are allergic. And... It's getting better with each sip. Glad I was forced to buy a six pack.
