Brewed and released just once a year, each Barrel Aged Empress Tonkoko release spends at least 12 months in a unique selection of barrels.
Plantation Rum was selected for its flavours of rich oak as well as warm molasses and rich burnt sugars which add depth to an already deeply decadent beer.

Viisuolut:
Olut on lasissa mustan ruskeaa. Vaaleaa vaahtoa kaatui reiluhkosti lasiin, mutta väheni nopeasti hituloiksi lasin reunoille. Tuoksu on melko mieto, makea, hieman paahteinen, maltainen, kaakaoinen, hieman kookoksinen, vaniljainen ja alkoholinenkin. Maku on pehmeä, makea, kevyen paahteinen, maltainen, kaakaoinen, hivenen kookoksinen, vaniljainen, mausteinen, sopivan humalainen ja hieman alkoholinen.
Rommisuutta löytyy kevyesti sekä tuoksusta että mausta, mutta odotin sitä enemmänkin, varsinkin kun kyseessä on Plantation-rommi. Muutoin kokonaisuus toimii hyvin.

Thick thick molasses. An excellent pour to end the day! Not sure I’ll see that one again in the shop. But I’ll be on the look out for more of the barrel aged empress tonkoko brews.
