Son-in-law and I are at St Arnold Brewery about to have a fantastic VIP event evening. Having a special beer only available at the brewery, aged 4 years.
Almost no head, slightly hazy, deep reddish copper color. Spicy aroma. First taste is a combination of everything. The barley wine, cinnamon, nutmeg, the dark fruit from raisin. Very flavorful. Dominated by the spice. Only late in the finish do you get any indication of the alcohol. Love the story behind the beer, how long it's been aged and how little of it that they brewed. Really is a limited edition.
Shared it because we have 11 powerful barrel aged beers waiting for us on this VIP cask tour. I might have to post the rest of these tomorrow.
