We’ve never brewed a gose. Until now. In collaboration with the gentlemen from Horizont brewing, Budapest, we boldly tried to create a pearfect summer beer that would be more than a sum of its parts. And there are quite a few parts: easy smooth base, lactic fermentation, a bucketful of salt, a pinch of cinnamon, half a pinch of clove and several hundred kilos of pears. Meeting in a tight balance, together they form a refreshing union of saltiness and sourness with the peculiarity of juicy pears to entertain all of your tastebuds

The pour from the can was a mixed bag. It started well with only a slight head but it quickly dissipated and left a flat looking, cloudy yellow body.
The scent is immediate sour/gose notes but the pear isn't very distinct, although the spiciness of the cloves is immediate.
Mouthfeel is flat with only basic carbonation and while not very thin, it is very watery.
Taste is like a citrus based sour, with a wave of pear. The pear passes and leave a dry grape/white wine profile. There is an aftertaste carrying the cloves, cinnamon and I think a little nutmeg too.
This could have been brilliant but plays like a disappointing cider.

So initially the idea was very intruiging, pear, clove and cinnamon gose!
The aroma was of a light sparkling/white wine, with a subtle fruit smell. Beautiful bright yellow cloudy look. Unfortunately, the taste was very disappointing. Best I can compare to a cheap cider mixed to a shite homemade apple wine. Overpowering sour taste with bare to none aftertaste. Maybe I built it up to much in my head before I tasted it. 🤔
The design of the can though is awesome, very eye pleasing!
