Beer number 9 in Aldi's Advent Calendar. Smaller head than the others, disappears to nothing. Held to the light it has a ruby red color and clear. Sweet Amber aroma. Smooth soft texture. Flavor immediately gives a rustic and deep roasted Amber malt. Definitely has a tart sweetness. Towards the middle the roast intensifies almost to a char. The finish turns a little flat and adds a trace amount of bitterness. This had the makings of a good beer but did not achieve it. Flavor needed to be a little stronger and seemed immature and not quite ready. The 6% alcohol was non-existent. It was missing not only a modest alcohol kick but the flavor that it adds to a beer. Disappointing because it seems that it had everything it needed but was just cut short.
