Hyvin tumman ruskea olut. Beige kaunis vaahto päällä. Tuoksussa on toffeeta ja aavistus kahvia. Maku on makeahko, hivenen humalainen, kahvinen. Loppumaku on aika lyhyt, hennosti kahvinen ja kuivakka. Hyvä yritys mutta omaan makuun jäi vähän vaisuksi...

Not something I would think of for a hot day but it caught my eye all the same. Very unassuming and characterless can, not unusual for a Lidl beer. The pour from the can was reasonably lively, lots of bubbles and foam, left one finger of off white head on top of the expectant, dark brown, almost cola-esque body. Aromas of caramel or cinder toffee. Burnt/brown sugar in spades too so probably more the toffee than the caramel. There's a small amount of watery, spent coffee grinds and a tiny hint of black chocolate. The mouthfeel is where this could start to fall down, it's very light, thin and watery. There is no bite and it is foamy with no carbonation to the point of it being nearly flat. Now usually this would be a bad thing as there is so much going on in the flavour but as I'm drinking this on a hot summers day, it's actually quite pleasant and very refreshing. The taste is another contentious point. Many of the rich profiles from the scent are present in the taste, but the thin and watery element of the beer makes them feel somewhat washed out. There is also a shift with the sugar and toffee moving to the back while chocolate and biscuit slowly push to the fore. Unfortunately the aftertaste also carries the metallic, industrious tint that often comes with cheap supermarket beer. There was a tonne of potential in this beer, especially with the price and availability factored in, but it let itself down in the final hurdle by being what it is, a cheap, mass produced supermarket beer.
