Muddy, very deep dark brown beer with controlled carbonation unlocks a velvety fawn head that exceeds one finger. The foamy lid melts soon to a generous lace ring and a visible haze on the surface center. The scent offers roasted malt, distinct smoke and licorice. Maybe also a touch of coffee beans. Roasted malt and licorice alternate openly on the tastebuds. Smoke is absent. Blackcurrant twig and a hint of bitter overstayed coffee seal the deal this time. The body is light. Not up to the level of the ABV. Ends unchanged. Feels light, roasty, marginally sharp, a bit characterless. Goes down albeit nothing to write home about.
