Strong Ale "La Divine" St. Landelin is made in the rare French style Biere de Garde (translated as “beer for storage”).
This style is brewed in northern France, in the Nord Pas de Calais. According to the characteristics, it is close to the Belgian variety of the season, but differs from it in a sweeter malt flavor.
Traditionally, Bierder-de-Gardin contains an increased concentration of alcohol, which ensures the conservation of quality during long-term storage. French farmers cooked it at the end of winter for use in the summer months, so for the modern Biere de Garde several weeks of preliminary exposure are mandatory.
