Beer #4 of the four-pack of Raudonų Plytų Alaus Dirbtuvės. The beer displays a honey-amber hue that allows the light to reflect through it. Carbonation stays alive long and emits constantly bubbles from the bottom to the top. A creamy head emerges there, climbs to one finger's yardstick and dissipates then to a thin messy lacing.
Medium-sweet malt, a bit of caramel and dried apricot emanate to my nostrils. Hmmm... not very promising as such a medley points at either oxygenation or unfreshness. The label promises that the beer is best before 26 July 2024. An IPA? 🤔
Let me though sip the beer. I receive strong ripe lemon, bitter black tea, a suggestion of blackcurrant and an oaky punch. Weird! The label says that this is a barrel aged IPA. As if hair-thin Bourbon lingered somewhere in the shadows.
The body is light to light-medium. The finish carries especially the lemony and bitter tea-like flavors over to the end. And leaves an unpleasant sensation in the mouth.
The mouthfeel is light-medium, tangy, sharp, woody and barrel aged. It's modestly crisp and dry. Not my cup of tea.
This could be courageous and innovative but fails to impress me. I just don't understand the idea here. My apologies if I misinterpret something and rate this poorly due to my ignorance. 🤷🏼♂️
