This brew came from Black Mountain, North Carolina. I've had one beer from that brewery before and I liked it a lot. Hope this one is as good.
This tall boy can produced a nice full head in one of the few glasses that can hold it. Haze so thick that you can't see through this yellow orange beer. Citrus aroma giving orange and tangerine. Flavor is amazing. The orange and tangering both are evident. It has some sweetness that doesn't seem to come from the citrus, not artificial, perhaps honey? Easy on the level of bitterness during the first and middle. And none of that backend harsh bitterness that many IPA's possess. Smooth and full bodied.
Many IPA's I've had seem as though they would be best enjoyed outside, on the river or beside the pool. Refreshing on a hot day. This is more of an indoor IPA if that's possible. Easy going, smooth and enjoyable in a relaxed and calm manner. I watched a video that showed that in this batch they used a different yeast and hop combination, so this is not a stationary beer. They are willing to make changes and evolve the flavor. A very bold move for your flagship beer. My only regret is that I only have one.
