Frozen Pale Ale - made with fresh hop cones which have been instantly frozen directly after being harvested. Many breweries experiment with Wet hop or Fresh hop Pale Ales, which are beers made with whole cone hops that have been picked only a very short time ago. At Amager we would also love to experiment with these super fresh hops that have a more mellow and smooth character, but being situated in Denmark, we are more than a few hours away from our favorite hop fields in Yakima Valley, Washington State. But when our hop supplier offered us hops that were frozen within a few hours of being picked, we did not hesitate. Being neither dried nor pelletized, frozen hops are the closest you can get to the fresh, wet ones. As they aren't hyper concentrated like dried hop pellets, we have had to use 3-6 times the weight in hops as we usually do. Don't expect an in-your-face hoppy Pale Ale, this is something…..different.
