A post scriptum on my Dry January: now I found an unflavored Kombucha, also nonalcoholic and sugar-free. I didn't know that these particular Kombuchas are available both sugared and sugar-free versions. 👍🏻 Enjoyed straight from the bottle. The nose picks recognizable green tea and lactic acid. I may also receive a very distant nuance of orange pith behind the scenes. Ok, now we are talking! No unnecessary sugars, nor flavors disturbing the real thing. The tongue gets green tea but no lactic acid. Interesting. Neither do I pick any citrus, in whatever form. But hey, wait a minute... there's something remotely sweetish among the flavors. I mean the flavor. Artificial sweetener or something. I checked the list of ingredients: some kind of stevia derivative is the culprit. In addition, there seems to be cane sugar as part of the Kombucha base. I guess it's unavoidable. The mouthfeel is light, tea-like, natural, slightly drying and healthy. Ok, this is much closer to what I was looking for before. I like the taste. I could imagine drinking unflavored Kombuchas also in there future. With our without alcohol. Preferably without a suggestion of sweetening substance either.
