Monk's Café Flemish Sour Ale
5.5% Sour Red / Brown
That's right, our own private label brewed for us by the family-owned Van Steenberge brewery, just outside Ghent, Belgium. Medium body, red color, somewhat fruity nose, malt flavor with a slight lactic taste. Great Stuff! A real thirst quencher and palate cleanser.

Une bière très fruité mais qui ressort les défauts d’un vin jeune. Goût de verdure qui rend la bière non pas amère maïs aigre. Une étrange expérience Pas mon goût.

The nose is indeed fruity! Nice cherry and mature red fruit smell. We also have red wine notes. In the mouth , it's oaky, fruity (red wine and red fruits aromas). There is a very "European" sour taste, by that I mean a very strong sour taste that attacks the throat, unlike American sours that are smoother. The after taste is on the cherry and has oaky and red wine aromas. Nice beer! Bravo la Belgique !
