Enjoying this Texas 903 Brewers Stout with my son-in-law in Houston on Duo. German chocolate cake is my favorite dessert so a lot of pressure for this to be good.
Has a thin appearing thickness on the pour. Translucent like a cola. Very faint aroma of chocolate but not getting any of the 13.3% alcohol. Mouthfeel is shockingly different. Super soft and velvety, heavy and sticky as molasses. First response on the flavor is incredibly sweet followed by chocolate, coconut, and caramel blended together. None of the artificial flavor I was fearful that they may have used. But where is the alcohol? How do you hide 13.3%? Only on the fourth ship do I get the smallest amount of burn in the back of my mouth, but still no alcohol shock. Excellent beer, my kind of dessert stout, but even for me this is a little too sweet.
It comes in a 16 oz can, so I still had some left after filling my snifter. Ryan suggests that we make an ice cream float out of it, like we did Guinness not long ago. Great idea. It's even better with the ice cream. Fantastic, 5.0 as a float. A little less as a standalone imperial stout.
