A cider for change. Vintage 2020, batch 17/20, bottle number 28. I wonder how many bottles one batch is... It wasn't actually my idea to include this in the order but I can surely have a glass and give my verdict. Pours semiclear, deep gold. Carbonation is really posh and forces a pure white, moussy head almost up to four fingers. Retention is significantly long, almost like neverending. A steady push of an armada of tiny bubbles from the bottom keeps the silky lace ring alive and kicking. The fragrance kicks out natural fresh apple with a relatively sour touch. I can also receive apple peel. The taste follows along the same lines apart from the vinous element that steps into the picture: natural sour apple, like Finnish apples actually, and a noticeable yeasty twist, but the mix tweaks substantially in the direction of white wine. Apple peel is evident also on the tongue. The finish has a medium duration and unchanged composition. The mouthfeel is natural, tart, a bit puckering, somewhat vinous and even modestly tannic. Very zesty as well as acidic, effervescent, slightly harsh and woody. One-dimensional but absolutely not too standard. I 💛 this one.
