This is another experimental homebrewed Sahti to celebrate the Finnish Midsummer 🌿🍺 This noble brew contains 5% chocolate malt and another 5% caramel malt.
The Sahti is opaque, very deep dark brown. Something like light-roasted black coffee. Practically speaking, no carbonation. The head is negligible and dies away almost immediately.
The scent, indeed, gives chocolate. It's very dark, more or less raw, with a good amount of raw cacao powder. A distant roasted note emanates to the nostrils from the background. Quite attractive although it deviates from a traditional Sahti to a noticeable extent.
Dark chocolate is apparent. Again, it's wellnigh raw and portrays a fairly high proportion of unprocessed cacao nibs. The same roasted nuance as in the fragrance releases its lingering vibe to the tastebuds. Interestingly, a suggestion of juniper tweaks the package moderately in a position that hints of a forested environment. Moreover, after some time of tasting this back and forth, I start receiving truly distant fermented banana. I'm not surprised that the banana is seriously shadowed by the chocolatey flavor but I'm still glad I found it. It goes without saying that alcohol is nowhere.
The body is medium-full. Very nice. 🖤🤎🖤 The finish repeats the components of the actual taste with the minor difference that the roasted side declines even further and gives space to chocolate. I would have guessed the opposite though. The aftertaste indulges in uninhibited skinny dipping and complements the experience with applying tar all over its body.
The mouthfeel is rather mellow, powerful, a bit lip-glueing and deep. It's also slightly roasty and unique. This is a very intriguing combination of traditional Sahti elements and crafted Dark Ale flavors.
