Imperial Berliner Weisse Raspberry | z Malinami, Poland

Tuesday is a perfect day to enjoy a beer that claims to be an Imperial Berliner Weisse. Flavored with raspberry. The ABV is 5.1 %. I wonder what makes this beer "Imperial" given its strength. The beer portrays a foggy, deep watermelon juice color. Shy carbonation gives birth to a newborn foamy lid that thickens one finger high. Short retention kills the froth soon. Raspberry comes through relatively bravely. The scent is a tad sweet, jam-like, as if there was lactose in the olfactory palette. There isn't. Wheat malt tries to hold back the berry juice. Raspberry mash dilutes rather watery in the mouth. It's sour, far from jam-like. Lactic acid scratches my teeth fiercely. Wheat malt is more pronounced in the taste than fragrance. I can also identify a subtle perfumy vibe in the background, it's fortunately very distant and goes occasionally hiding but then raises its head again and disturbs the experience. I consider it an off-flavor, not sure if it's because the best before is as soon as on 22 April. The body is light. The finish buries the perfumy tang and continues with thin, medium-sour raspberry juice and wheat malt. The aftertaste claims to be a Berliner, like JFK in 1963. The mouthfeel is light, semitart, a bit puckering, acidic. The remote perfumy impression reduces the rating.
