Southern Hemi
9.0% New England DIPA / Hazy Imperial IPA
A juicy, hazy Double IPA that showcases the freshest, hand-selected lots of Nelson Sauvin & Riwaka, from the 2020-crop year that just landed at our brewery from New Zealand’s Freestyle Farms. Fermented with a neutral, hybrid strain that lends a clean fermentation and sets up a canvas for the tropical diesel fuel these hops are so renowned for.

BEER: Southern Hemi BREWERY: Alvarado Street Brewery BEER STYLE: NEDIPA COUNTRY: USA ABV.: 9.0% COLOUR (EBC): Pineapple Juice Yellow (13.0) BITTERS (EBU/IBU): - AROMA: Soft. Deeply tropical with slightest sweetnes there on the background. HEAD: One finger tall with mixed bubbles. Decent, but lively. GREY’S VIEW Nelson Sauvin & Riwaka hopped NEDIPA w/ Neutral, Hybrid Strain. First bite is hoppy and quite tight. Riwaka must have been used more on this one. Taste offers semi raw pitay, - honeydew and cantaloupe with some watermelon and sweet mango too. It’s a tight one this. Mouthfeel is juicy and firm. Bit unapoletic. But juicy. Carbonation is semi soft and the hop level is high. Hard to detect the yeast on this one, but my guess is that it’s the one giving parts of the being to this. Rather nice, almost there. Aftertaste has lip gluing sweetnes to go along with the mainflavours fading away slowly. OTHER NOTES: Nicely different and quite bold brew from Alvarado. Hard to rate this as it has multiple sides on it. Requires serious skills to produce this sort of beer. Respect. CANNED 14/4/2021 TASTED 6/5/2021
