I'm a sucker for orange chocolate. Opening the can gave a very subdued scent of orange chocolate. The pour was uneventful, a little flat actually. The body is a firm black with no head whatsoever. Scent is nice, chocolate, orange and a little vanilla to bind the two. Mouthfeel is sharp M and full bodied but with a light crisp carbonation. Taste is very intense, there is a huge alcohol hit and it overwhelms the other flavours, which just fuse into an indistinct sweetness. There is a slight vanilla and chocolate remaining in the aftertaste but the orange is gone. A bit of a disappointment.

Jaffa cakes in a can, definitely! I thought this was spot on. I like my imperial stouts to be thick, complex and boozy. Anything with adjuncts in is usually too sweet in which case I don’t want it thick and boozy otherwise it’s just a mess. This is my first Wander Beyond beer and won’t be my last if this is anything to go by. Easy drinking and mellow with flavours that aren’t synthetic. The fact it isn’t thick and boozy isn’t an issue, in fact I like that I can sip it and have those lovely Jaffa cake flavours mingled with some marmalade and acidic bitter chocolate.
