Orval (2015)
6.2% Belgian Ale
The Orval Trappist Brewery make only one beer for the general public. It has an intensely aromatic and dry character. Between the first and second fermentations there is also an additional dry-hopping process. Through this the beer acquires it's hoppy aroma and extra dry taste. NOTE: The ABV-value of this beer varies, in the United States 6.9% is used.

Was a bit surprised how such a classic example of vertical collection like Orval didn't have separate entries for each year in Pint Please. Well, created a new entry for this 2015 vintage. Bottled 16/07/2015. Color is bronze golden. Interesting. Generous, fluffy foam. One of the most magnificent ever. Like a scoop of custard on top of the beer. Scent of dates, green apple, dark fruits, something very fresh. Taste has honey, malts, some spice, apple, rather toned down compared to the scent. Body is fluid, light and smooth. Thankfully not too carbonated. I have tried Orval only once before, didn't like it then. Now it feels alright. Can't wait to sample it with cheese, crackers and jam.
