The beer pours clear, pale amber. Carbonation is too aggressive, the glass is first full of mere foam. Takes some time to settle. Soapy and pale gray is the texture and color of the froth. The scent almost turns me off: overall oppressed, malty and slightly bready. I check immediately the best before date: 14/4/2024. Phew. Not at least overage, yet. When the foam has more or less vanished completely, I receive grapefruit zest and pith. Better than at the first inhale but still not inviting. The tongue spots flavors that raise doubts: grapefruit juice, resin, malt, a pinch of caramel and truly remote raisin. Confusing. Could this be oxidized? This should be Citra DDH but doesn't taste like that at all. The body is light-medium to medium. The finish accentuates the soft fruity flavors at the expense of the harder crisp notes. I would still argue that this is not fresh. The mouthfeel is a peculiar medley of soft and crisp elements. It's smooth, absolutely too frothy, moderately resinous and overripe, even seriously so. This must be either oxidized or the application of Citra had otherwise failed badly.
