FOAM: Nonexistent.
GREY’S VIEW
Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout with Madagascar vanillabeans, coconut and cardamom.
First bite continues what the aroma presented. Taste has lots of stuff; sweet melted brown sugar, intresting, semi mild, but clear mix of spices and lots of easy but sweet dark (spiced) chocolaty feel. Also chocolate cookies, distant hint of coconut, some minerality and a sense of flowers can be detected. Oomph! Some might say.
Body is easy and on the lighter side, bubbles are lively and nicely soft. Bourbon has blended perfectly into the overall feel, giving some notations of itself, but mostly keeping itself in the shadows and supporting the main flavors perfectly. Absolutely gorgeous stuff!
Aftertaste presents some stronger, drying dark chocolate, solid base of dark malt, good pinch of dry rye and red vinous goings.
OTHER NOTES:
Beer has name in latin. In Absentia Luci = In The Absence Of Light.
Seems like these In Absentia Luci’s fits my mouth much better then those new pastry stouts, which Other Half is currently releseasing. These are classy, complex and charming entirities. Must recommend for more experienced beer enthuasists.
