Semifoggy, deep amber beer with regular manageable carbonation pulls up a dense, off-white head that elevates up to one finger. Extraordinarily long retention ensures that an attractive lace ring caps the beer's precious aromas for long.
A malty slam tries to get to my nose but it remains quite gentle at best. Pine needles, resin, grapefruit peel and a caramelly twist bring in their additional efforts. Not overwhelming by any means but wakes my nose up.
The same kind of package follows onto my mouth: resinous hops, piney flavors in moderation, malt with its slightly caramelly amendment and bitter citrusy elements. Obedient to the style guidelines.
The body is medium. Better than I thought it would be. The finish revolves around the already experienced gustatory universe. The aftertaste studies Georges LemaƮtre as long as it almost forgets what it's doing.
The mouthfeel is somewhat full, crisp, piney, a tad dry and drying. It's certainly balanced and predictable. Ungimmicky. Delivers what promises.
