Deep inside the Hadron Collider physicists hurtle sub-atomic particles with lightning speed on a collision course with each other. They do so in the pursuit of pure science, in the hope of one day being able to unlock the mystery of the elusive unseen fabric upon which our universe is embroidered: Dark Matter.

This beer is quite popular in the area where I live. I'm going to give it a try and find out why.
(Disclosure: I've had it before.)
It looks black as "the inside of a cow" as my father is fond of saying, but when put to the flashlight test reveals a deep red brown. It has a great frothy tan head that must be afraid of the dark as it disappears quickly leaving only a little ring of foam around the edges. Oddly that little ring leaves fantastic lacy curtains all over the glass.
It does not list the style of the beer anywhere on the label, but the rich roasty aromas it gives off remind me of a stout or porter. It has notes of coffee, nut, grains, caramel and a touch of chocolate concealed in its shadowy depths.
It moves through my mouth smooth like a skilled burglar moves through the night.
What little hops there are manage to just cut the sweetness and leave a little tickle on the tip of my tongue but has nearly no bitterness.
The roast malt flavour is absolutely delicious coming across as a light creamy coffee.
I think it's more like a roasty brown ale than Porter or stout.
Whatever it is, it's dark appearance hides a friendly easy beer.
Popularity? Well earned.
