I brewed this beer to test out what Tardif De Bourgogne hops do. It was also a test of the Kveik yeast strain from Imperial called Loki.

I brewed this beer ss a test batch to find out what the French strain of hops called Tardif de bourgogne would do. I used it as test for Imperial's Loki yeast. Fermented very cool to keep the profile clean. I may try this again much warmer to see what the esters are like.
It pours a pale straw, lightly gold colour with a nice fluffy whit head composed of small to medium size bubbles. It laces the glass decently, and maintains at least a thin layer of foam throughout.
It suffers from a bit of chill haze that clears dramatically as it warms slightly.
The nose is treated to a humble aroma that is a little hard to decipher but contains gentle floral notes suggestive of lavender and green tea. It somehow creates an impression of sweetness whith highlights of honeydew or other melon. I pick up a noble hop type spicy hint as well. All these are very well blended and quite gentle. These hop notes work nicely in partnership with the malt aroma that, to me, are reminiscent of European lager. A nice grain and biscuit base to balance the hops.
Im not sure sure if the yeast left anything to the nose or tastebuds but I cant pick anything out.
The body is a little thinner than I was hoping for but not too dissapointing.
The taste is very much like the aromas. The sweetness is nicely present and and works very well with the floral and spicy notes. It is a little too biscuity but not a offensive. The layers of flavour display as hops, biscuit, then after it all starts to fade one notices a gentle building of bitterness that teases the tongue as an aftertaste. Not a strong bitterness at all. Quite a nice beer that with a few minor adjustments will be excellent.
