Having returned from abroad on Sunday, I must work from home for 14 days. After two days at home, I decided to move to the countryside. It's more inspiring here. Today is my "Quarantine" Day #2.  💀 The beer colors oily, pitch black. The tame carbonation releases a velvety, tan head that barely reaches half a finger's height. The foamy cap melts rapidly away to flat still. No traces can be found on the wall of the glass. The nose receives a definite powerplay of tonka beans. This is surely divisive. Behind the tonka, I pick milk chocolate, cacao nibs and faint maple syrup. The taste pushes forward powerful tonka. The chocolate is dark and the cacao is almost raw. In addition, I find faintly roasted malt, a bit of burned oat flakes, a suggestion of syrup and extraordinarily thin tobacco. The body is the weakest link of this brew -- not taking into account of the tonka that may also be a weak link for some -- the body is medium. The beer finishes with some burned and even charred nuances, raw chocolate, cacao and slightly bitter syrup. There's also a recognizeable alcoholic tang in the background. The aftertaste keeps the tastebuds dancing for a fairly long time. The mouthfeel is medium-strong, distinctly flavored and moderately lip-glueing. It's also velvety and smooth as well as a bit boozy. Furthermore, the mouthfeel is slightly roasty and burned. I also want to wish a safe and hopeful St. Patrick's Day. We shall overcome! 🍀🍻
