Jälkkärinä triplaipa. Kiitos veljelle ison pullon jakamisesta. Kiva testaus 👍

Tyylikkään värinen, tiukan makuinen. Tripel-nimensä mukaisesti häivähdys belgiä (liekö lähinnä vahvuus) mutta ennimäkseen tyylipuhdas IPA. Kireä, hieman saippuainen lopetus.

The evening ends with a Californian TIPA of 11 %. The ABV scares me a bit as this is surely West Coast style and the brewery is sofar unknown to me. The beer pours translucent amber. The vivid carbonation produces a cloud-white froth that grows 1.5 fingers tall. The foamy layer melts sluggishly to a pretty lacing on top and marks the glass otherwise with thick splatters. The scent is relatively manageable: I get some lemon zest and a tad orange juice, seasoned with dried apricot. My fear didn't materialize, yet. Then the sip... The taste receptors pick bitter orange peel, a small dollop of grapefruit zest and a pinch of dried apricot. The hops are medium-piney and feature also a recognizeable note of resin. Booziness is hefty and considerably edgy; this is what scared me for good reason and now it's happening! Alcohol really dominates the gustatory universe and leaves a chemical flavor in the mouth. In addition to the strong sharp alcoholic punch, the complexity is somewhat wanting. The body is light-medium to medium. It's clearly suboptimal to the ABV and leaves too much freedom to alcohol to rumble around. The beer ends with tangy chemical booze that forms a sharp bed for the other subordinate flavors of spruce needles, resin and lemon peel like a fakir's bed of nails. The aftertaste tortures the tastebuds for a relatively long time. The mouthfeel is substantially tangy, boozy and chemical. It's also somewhat crisp and sharp. The mouthfeel is surprisingly little piney and slightly mouth-drying. My goodness, this is challenging! It really pushes me against the wall and gives no mercy no matter how hard I plea. Absolutely no winner but the latter half of the bottle (total 22 fl oz = 0.65 liters) is a bit easier than the first half. And it's only because of the alcohol if you know what I mean.  😁
