Chocolate Bock
5.8% Hellerbock / Maibock
This dark beer has a big, malty character with the added sweetness of chocolate. Chocolate Bock is slowly aged on a bed of rare dark cocoa nibs, the primary ingredient in chocolate. Known for their quality, these cocoa nibs harvested in Ecuador, impart complex aromas and flavors from chocolaty to fruity, nutty, earthy, and citrusy.

Been saving this for a nice Sunday football afternoon. Has a medium tan head that does not last. Pours with the color of a cola, has a very very dark red/brown color but not completely opaque. Slight roasted aroma. Flavor is of roasted bittersweet chocolate. Has the smoothness and the texture of a Bock but not the heaviness of a porter or a Stout. Finish lasts and keeps the chocolate but is both a little bitter and dry. Very unusual to add a chocolate to a Bock, I was very skeptical but the combination works for me. Guess Sam Adams wouldn't put it out there if they did not think it was pretty good.

This one is more my speed. Dark chocolate. A nice roast malt and creamy head that clears quickly. Warms you up nice on a cold day.
