This time around the malt is sheep dung smoked resulting in a very interesting aroma of leather, in addition to roasted corn, burned sugar and darker tones of chocolate, strong coffee and licorice.
Surtur is named after Surtr (Old norse "black" or "the swarthy one”) a devil giant in Norse mythology foretold as being a major figure during the events of Ragnarök.

Nez porter, carbonatation un peu plus prononcée que les autres islandaises.
Fumé exceptionnel dans cette édition 2022 (premier test de celle-ci en 2017).

It starts off as a black flat stout with a very interesting aroma. It reminded me of a smokey old cheese at first. Then comes the taste, smokey and smooth with a silky bitterness. Not sure if there is a sheep dung taste but the taste is certainly interesting. It is definitely worth tasting if only to say that you have tasted sheep shit at least once in your life. Who knows, it might catch on.
