Hyvä alkupala

A Pilsner to accompany the meal. Pours semihazy yellow. Perky carbonation gives a white, cotton head that grows one finger tall. Retention is significantly long. A velvety lace ring adorns the top nicely. The scent is interesting: lime and lemon zest and some lemongrass. Perhaps a bit of cracker in the background, too. The zesty package continues to the palate: hefty lemon zest and squeezed lime get friends of lemongrass and a pinch of fresh coriander. Interesting. Did I say interesting? I have to study the label again to find out if I'm drinking the right beer. 🤔 A tame hoppy touch lands gently on the taste receptors. Otherwise I fail to pick the standard flavors of a Pilsner almost completely. The body is thin, almost watery. The finish is still very citrusy and zesty. Whaaat? The duration is short. The mouthfeel thin, zesty, zippy and refreshing. Crispness is really modest if anything. Not sure what I should think of this as it deviates considerably from the style standards and my expectations.

Perushyvä pilsneri. Ei räjäyttänyt maailmaa eikä makunystyröitä, mutta mainio kaveri pihvin kylkeen…
