Quarantot Double IPA is characterised by the extravagant use of different varieties of American hops in order to create a complex aroma and flavour structure on a neutral Pilsner malt base. Fermentation with a strain of American yeast sets off an explosion of hoppy fragrances, highlighting their fruity notes.
The name comes from the expression "fare un quarantotto", literally "to do a forty-eight" i.e. to cause some chaos. The expression refers to historical events that took place in 1848, a year of many popular uprisings in.
