Drop the compass in the dust and hit the highway; the direction will take care of itself. Our friends at North Brewing Co headed to Ellon to create this deep, complex milk stout with aromas of warming spice from the Tonka beans, toasted oak and vanilla. Like all roadtrips, this one is also powered by coffee and it leaves a beer as dark and true as the blacktop stretching out ahead.

Initially it's a stupendous margipan hit on the nose. As it warned up the coffee comes trough. The Tonka beans come from rather far back but take over. It is a rather impressive stout even better as the temperature rises in the glass.

Darkest brown Stout with almost no foam head at all. Excellent aroma of cinnamon buns and Tonka beans. Promises of sweet dessert Stout. Taste is consistent but not as sweet as the aroma suggests. Also lighter bodied. Burnt malts, vanilla and cinnamon. Dry finish with Tonka beans lingering around. Great aroma, otherwise “just” good.

Erittäin tumman ruskea kahvin värinen. Ihana paksu rusehtava vaahto. Tuoksussa hieman toffeeta kahvia ja lakritsia. Maku lakritsi ja toffeeligöörin tuntuma. Aika paksu. Huulet jää makeaksi . Ihan ok ei ihan mun juttu tää.

Tuoksussa tonka papua ja moottoriöljyä. Maussa niin ikään lisää tonka papua, vaniljaa ja jälkimaussa kanelia.
